How to change your watch strap
Ready to purchase a Rubber Strap for your luxury dive watch but not sure how to change the strap? Below are 6 easy steps to help get you started:
1. Gather the necessary tools: You will need a soft surface, your watch with an existing strap, and the replacement strap. Depending on your strap, you may also need a spring bar tool, an alternative sharply pointed object, and some spring bars.
2. Place your watch on a soft surface: This will prevent your watch from getting scratched or damaged whilst changing the strap.
3. Analyze the type of strap you currently have: If you have a modern leather strap with quick-release tabs, push the small lever in a downward direction away from the nearest to release the strap from the watch. If your existing straps don't feature this, look for drilled logs and use a narrow, sharp object to prize the spring bar and strap out from between the logs. If neither is present, use a Spring bar tool to compress the spring bar and release it from the logs.
4. Check the size of your replacement strap: Make sure that your replacement strap or bracelet is of the correct size by measuring the space between the logs using calipers or a ruler, or looking up the lug width of your watch online. Buy a replacement strap and spring bar that match the size accordingly.
5. Install the replacement strap: If the replacement strap has quick-release bars, compress them using the lever and slot them into place one end at a time. If the replacement strap lacks this feature, use the forked end of your tool to compress the spring bar to the right size and snap it into place with a distinct click. Make sure the short end of the strap is attached to the top of your watch.
6. Check that the strap is securely in place: Give the strap a quick wiggle to ensure it is properly attached.
